Well Gougaram

Aman-Iman | Water is life
Ziehbrunnen

As for all people of the desert also for the Tuareg water ist the essential basis of life. After the loss of their herds caused by drought they try to survive by means of agriculture.

The construction or renovation of a suitable well, however, exceeds by far the financial possibilities of the clans.
ENMIGRAW helps them to finance such well projects with contributions.

Ziegentraenke

In June 2005 the first well with 19 m depth could be put into operation in Gougaram (region of Talak). ENMIGRAW made this initiative possible by financing the building material and the wages of the specialists for well construction.

The resident Tuareg startes with the first digging works. Local masons and experts carried out  the difficult concreting works and the following digging in the depth.

Brunnen Gougaram

At times more than 50 men from Gougaram were involved. This self-contribution brought in considerable savings and had the effect of a strong identification with the project. Therefore the continuance and maintenance of the well is secured for a long time.

According to our experience the well delivers daily a lot of clean drinking water since 2005. Not only the animals can be watered, it is also sufficient for the planned vegetable garden.
